What is Truthfulness?

Truthfulness is being honest in your words and actions. You don’t tell lies, even to protect yourself from getting into trouble You don’t listen to gossip and prejudice. You see with your own eyes, and make up your own mind what is true. Being true to yourself means being who and what you are, without exaggerating to impress others or trying to look like something you are not. It is being yourself, your true self.

Why Practice it?

Without truthfulness, no one can tell if someone is lying or telling the truth. One without truthfulness cannot be trusted to tell what is a story and what really happened. Imagination is confused with reality. However when people are truthful, they say what they mean and they mean what they say. Truthfulness builds trust. People know where they stand with a truthful person.

How Do You Practice it?

Always choose to tell the truth. If someone asks your opinion, give it - tactfully! When you make a mistake, admit it rather than trying to cover it up. Instead of listening to gossip, find out the truth for yourself. Recognise the difference between fantasy and reality. If you start telling a story, stop and tell what really happened. Let people see you as you are without trying to look more important. You are truly worthy just as you are.
